What is LLM Seeding?

A couple of months ago, a client of mine who owns a senior home care business in North Vancouver sent me a screenshot that they received from a person who had inquired with them.

What was that screenshot?
It was a screenshot of the user searching on ChatGPT and getting my client’s business cited in response, and then, based on that, the user contacted my client’s business to know more.

The end result — a new LEAD!!!!

But, how did my client get cited by ChatGPT??

The answer is simple — LLM Seeding (Large Language Model Seeding).

I know, I know. Your next question is — what the h**k is this new term called LLM Seeding?

So let’s define it first in a simple way.

What is LLM Seeding?

LLM Seeding is a concept of formatting & publishing high-quality content in ways & places where AI tools (LLMs) like ChatGPT, Gemini & Perplexity learn from.

We all know it by now, I guess — AI tools learn about your business and services not just from your website but all across the internet, including your social media, job boards, directories like Yelp, Yellow Pages, and so on.

How Does LLM Seeding Work?

Though most of these AI tools are free for us as users, these tools cost a lot of money for the companies that own them, as they require a lot of computing power, which comes at a cost.

So all these companies want to do the same thing that every company on this planet is doing — reduce these costs. And, we want to help them do that.

By making things easier for these LLMs to learn from our website and knowing about us from the trusted sources online, we help these LLMs learn more about the services, topics and also our business much quicker, which means less cost to them to learn, which in turn makes them love us even more!

But why should you care about the costs?

What’s it in for you?

Why LLM Seeding Matters for Your Business (4 Key Benefits) 🤔

1. Zero Click Leads

If you read my other article on Zero Click Leads, you probably already know what it means.
(If you haven’t yet, then it would be a good time to do that now)

In 2022, there were no searches happening on AI engines like ChatGPT.

But 3 years later, in 2025, 8% of the global searches are now happening on AI engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Grok and many more out there.

This number is expected to grow to 25-30% by 2030.

The way things are going, I won’t be surprised if this number is reached in the next couple of years.

In fact, here is a screenshot of an awesome infographic that Neil Patel published regarding the searches on Traditional Search vs. AI Search.

Though this would not mean that the traditional way of searching will be dead, a good chunk of it will start doing it in a different way.

So being ready for it to be visible on AI engines would be key, and the early adopters will greatly benefit, something like buying a bitcoin way back in 2012 😇

2. Levelling the Playing Field

SEO has mostly been considered a very technical field. And yes, I would say it is.

But having said that, LLM Seeding does not need a lot of technical expertise.

It can be very simple. It could be as simple as replying to a post on Facebook where someone has asked a question, and you replied to them with an honest answer and a reference back to a page on your website that helps give them more information.

Now I am thinking, how much should I charge you for this advice as an SEO Consultant? 🤔

3. Increase in Brand Value

Do you know the company Apple, which makes phones? Of course you do!

Why does practically everyone on this planet know about Apple?
The answer is simple — Brand Value.

One of the best ways to increase brand awareness and value is to appear everywhere possible. Just like it is mentioned in the movie Focusnumber 55 everywhere.

If LLMs see that everywhere they look for learning, they come across some information related to your business name, they would definitely start considering you as an expert and start citing you more and more in their answers.

4. Help the User in making a Decision

Why do people immediately trust the business in the #1 position on Google Search and contact them?

Simple — the logic is that Google trusts the business and hence lists them on position #1, so I can trust them too.

That is exactly the same logic that is gonna get carried over to the AI engines.

If ChatGPT is gonna cite a business and say that XYZ business is good for your particular question, people are not gonna double-check if the answer is correct.

They will immediately make the decision to contact the business, which will mean more potential inquiries & clients for the business.

Here is a simple example which I did for my own business.

Now, would you not trust me when ChatGPT tells you to 🤓

Let’s Conclude

So yeah — LLM Seeding might sound like some geeky new term, but in reality, it’s just about making your business easier for AI tools to understand and share.

And honestly, in a world today where people are asking ChatGPT for everything from dinner recipes to local painters, being in the answer matters more than being on the list.

If you run a service-based business — whether you clean homes, fix roofs, walk dogs, or run a law office — this is your chance to show up where people are already looking for help. You don’t need fancy tools or deep SEO knowledge.

Just useful content in the right places.

The choice is yours!
